35 North Georgia Road

Southeastern Tennessee was a new landscape to me in 1974, when I moved East to take a position as a college art professor. Sometimes on my days off, alone or with friends, I would grab my camera and drive around the countryside trying to get myself lost.

Call it cheap thrills or any excuse for adventure, these little outings generated a lot of fun and no small amount of good imagery. Always on gravel backroads or little county numbers with their first coat of asphalt, I sometimes inadvertently crossed the line and found I was wandering around with Georgia on my mind, somewhere in Whitfield or Gilmer County, Georgia.
