35 Egglestone Evensong, England

The River Tees, just east of Barnard Castle in Durham, describes the stones along its bank in dulcet tones, as it slips past the ruined fourteeth century walls of Egglestone Abbey. Larks, wrens, and thrushes call to their mates in the canopies. Sounds of distant sheep and cows can just be heard above the wind’s caressing movement through the leaves.

No bells, no sisters in long habits raise their faithful voices to mark the sun’s passing, and yet the quiet evensong of Nature still echoes in that timeless void.
