Of the many spectacular places on this Earth where pattern is the dominant visual element, the Morrison formation around the North Caineville Reef and Factory Buttes in Utah would certainly be in the upper crust.

These warm neutral gray silts, formed in the late Jurassic Period and are the final resting place for many giant reptilian fossils.

When seen from above, they take on a continuously changing, rumpled velvet appearance.
